LSE Swing Classes with Tom & Cicci

Spring 2010

Beginners Classes

Mondays from 11th January – 15th March 2010
(last date for new beginners to join is 1st February - otherwise wait for the next course starting in October, or other courses with Tom & Cicci)

Class 6:30 - 8:30 pm / Social & practice till 9:00 pm

Parish Hall (PH on the map, on Portugal Street)

This course will cover the fundamentals of lindy hop and take complete beginners from zero to hero in a term. We'll be covering the basic 6-count, 8-count and charleston rhythms, sharing some vernacular jazz and introducing key concepts of partnered swing dance. It's essential for anyone interested in learning a bit of lindy hop with other like-minded beginners in a relaxed, low-pressure setting. So that we can make consistent progress throughout the term, we only accept new beginners for the first three weeks, but those who already have a grasp of the steps are always welcome to come back and brush up their basics - after all, the basics are the key to dancing well!

Improvers/Intermediates Classes

Tuesdays from 12th January – 16th March 2010

Class 7:00 - 9:00 pm / Social & practice till 9:30

Rooms H103 (H building on the map; enter through the Old Building and use the connecting walkway on the second floor)
[also please check email updates in case of room changes – it's a bit chaotic this year. Email Su.Soc.Swingers@lse.ac.uk to be added to the list]

This class is for improvers and intermediates who are comfortable with the basic 6-count 8-count and charleston rhythms from the beginners class. We'll be building on the basics and developing trickier steps and rhythms while delving deeper into key skills and concepts of partnered dance and exploring vernacular jazz dance. These classes are more challenging and faster-paced than the beginners course. Expect to work on connection, musicality, quality of movement and more...
